A Different Heating Solution: Heat Pumps 101
Think of a heat pump as a hybrid vehicle. They both take advantage of two sources of energy. In a hybrid vehicle you have a gasoline engine and an electric engine, once the electric engine runs out of energy the gas engine will take over to get you to your destination. A very similar idea, a heat pump takes advantage of the remaining heat found outdoors. As long as temperatures are above 30 degrees F, the outdoor unit (that normally cools your home) will reverse cycle and grab the remaining heat from outside and bring it in. Once it becomes too cold for the heat pump to operate your secondary heat source will kick into gear. Newer models as well as ‘ductless’ systems are able to operate down to -15 degrees F, eliminating the need for a secondary heat source. The result? It all begins with scheduling your estimate. Once you speak with our friendly team in the office, either Mark or Zak will come out to your home to start the home visit. During our visit we will go over your current needs and wants out of a new system, discuss if you have any issues that can be addressed, and most importantly measure your home.

If you get a system that is too big you will never be satisfied with temperatures and if the system is too small it will always be on, which is inefficient.
